The foundation for establishing the East – West University was an educational initiative that began in 2004 – 2005, which aimed at regional cooperation among the universities of the South Caucasus and Turkey. The main goal was to establish a strong connection between regional educational institutions and to encourage collaborative educational activities.
EWUNI was established in 2019 with the purpose of providing access to high – quality medical education for both local and international students. The purpose of founding the university was to establish modern standards of education and medicine in Georgia, which has been achieved by integrating European and international requirements and standards. The university clearly demonstrates its commitment to international collaboration, academic rigor, and student-centered approaches.
The university aspires to establish an academic environment aligned with the best international practices, foster intercultural dialogue, attain high employment rates for its graduates in both local and international labor markets, and contribute to the development of a knowledge – based civil society.
At present, the university offers one – cycle English – language educational program in Medicine (MD), which complies with European academic standards and international practices. The program combines theoretical knowledge and practical training, led by qualified and experienced medical professionals. From the very first year of study, students acquire practical experience in modern laboratories and clinics.
EWUNI closely collaborates with leading medical institutions — LLC Alexander Aladashvili Clinic, LLC Tbilisi Balneological Resort, and LLC Geo Hospital, which gives students an exceptional opportunity to work in a real clinical environment under the guidance of professionals.
EWUNI places great importance on high – quality student experience, and for this reason it has a modern equipped infrastructure with laboratories, simulation center, integrated teaching auditoriums, library, and computer labs, ensuring both theoretical education and development of practical skills. Students have access to electronic resources and international scientific databases, which allows them to work on the latest medical research and innovations. Comfortable spaces have been established at the university for both individual and collaborative work, fostering creative thinking and interactive education. In addition, the university space includes recreation and relaxation zones, which creates pleasant and friendly academic environment.
